My visit with Silvia Dimitrova. Master in Russian Icons.

Over the past few weeks I had trouble with the style I had been set for my pre production course work, which was The Russian icons.

So I decided to visite a local artist who is a master in creating traditional Russian icons.

Introduction.

Her name is Silvia Dimitrova, she was raised up in northan Bulgaria until she won a place in applied arts at Troyan at the age of 13. She then graduated in 1989 and studied icon painting in Sofia as an apprentice for Georgi Tchouchev. Her work has been exhibited in places such as the Alexander Nevsky cathedral aswell as many other cathedrals around the world. She has even been commissioned to create many pieces of work to be presented and placed inside the cathedrals.

Her work.

(some of these are copies of other paintings such as the trinity just above)

Silvia has also created her own design of icons. using the same techniques but with a exotic twist.

if you would like to see more of Silvias website and how she creates her work it is http://www.silviadimitrova.co.uk/welcome.html

Now im going to post a few more posts about my visit, what I have learnt and artist she has told me to look up on.
