Cinematography

The brief. For our cinematography project we had to create a two minute film. we can film what ever we want and the story is what ever we can come up with. However we must not use dialog! we are allowed to use music and background noise but nothing els.

Our idea.
Our orgional idea for this brief was to be set in a mental hospital with a middle aged woman looking sad and scared. We then go in her mind through flashbacks of her on the beach looking for somthing, and throughout various flashbacks she gets more agitated and then gets in a paniced state. whilst this is going on we hear the noise of children crying and laughing. Suddenly the woman sees the figure of a child and runs towards him but realises the water has come in and shes running through water and trips and falls. causing her to wake up back in the hospital shaking...........so yer..in the end we decided not to use this idea. due to too many deadlines however when we are next free we aim to try it for a personal project.

IN THE END

we decided on a story about a man who wakes up stranded on the beach (dont worry we arent going to copy inception) and suddenly hears a ear piercing sound and wakes up suddenly and sees something off camera which scares him causing him to run to the cliffs on the beach front. whilst hes running there will be a fog with a large object moving within it behind him. The man then hides in a cave and hides there till he feels safe. when venturing out he looks out across the cliffs were suddenly a hand comes up and drags him down. BOOM the end! however we will have some very senic and pretty shots of the beach to set the mood of the scene. We are mostly concentrating on camera angles, shots, set up etc and making a very minimal story.

Filming.
I was in charge of the location in this film aswell as camera assistant and fellow cinematography artist.
I chose a beach in Cornwall called Chapel porth beach next to St Agnes. Which is really pretty. the beach is cut away in the cliffs with plenty of caves and old mines. so pretty awsome and beautiful.
Here are some of the photos from the day of filming.
