Infinitus Artificium - 3rd year project Proposal idea

Infinitus Artificium.

The Idea

For my final project I always wanted to create something that included most of the arts and how they can be combined to create some of the most beautiful pieces!

Ive been influenced by music, dance and art my entire life and have dabbled in all of these art forms throughout my life. To get the chance to incorporate all of these things that I love into my final piece would be incredible.

From a young age I was always transfixed with Animations like Fantasia and was so amazed with how they all moved and complimented each other so much, and im pretty sure that fantasia was a huge part in my love towards the arts and appreciating them.

My idea is to create a 1:00-1:50 min animation for all ages depicting the use of dance, art and music.
I aim for a piece that shows different forms of art movements and styles that would flow and resemble the music it is played against. With the help of expressionant dancing emphasizing the emotions and feelings coming through the music. My aim to make the viewer feel the intensity and awe that I felt whilst watching and listening to these three art movements.

Ive been advised to set emotion to characters to help the viewer. which made me come up with the idea of having three main characters and three main instruments which will collide and combine to build at the emotion that they are to portray.

For instance

FEAR

JOY

HOPE

The beginning

Well to kick start this idea ive been in contact with a fellow student who studies Music and she has agreed to take control of the music. We meet regularly to discuss music styles that would be best suited and ways in which we can make the emotion of the characters show through the music. specially the three instruments which would resemble the emotions of the three characters. We have reviewed many music styles and are still deciding the best rout for this piece.

I will also get into discussion with some dance students at the uni and see if they can choreograph 3 main character dances for my final piece which would flow and move well with the music. Once they have come up with the perfect dance routine and both myself and them are happy with it we shall be filming them dancing from different angles and maybe a few close ups.

This would then be a sort of form for the storyboards so the animators can work with the videos in the art style they see appropriate.

In this time myself and people who wish to work on this project will attend as many life drawing classes as we could possibly handle to understand the human body a lot more and how the muscles show up in some poses more than others and generally get a better understanding for this final piece.

The art styles

There is no specific art style in this piece because it is about exploring the human body and seeing what art style would suit that specific move or position. A lot of the art styles however would be based on styles we practice in life drawing classes and art styles from previously done animations.

Here are a few examples of the art styles I wish to produce throughout the piece.
These are all life drawings i have done over the years whilst experimenting with styles and mediums.
